Hello there,
I am very interested in starting a community garden and was hoping I can pick up a few tips or tricks from some pros. If I were to start a garden what plants should i use for more permanent plantings (trees and shrubs)? We hope to remain sustainable and California native. Thank you.

Brad & Stephanie: I live in Atwater. Do you carry any Stevia plants? Stevia has worked like a miracle for me, health wise. I would like to grow my own plants. There’s a wealth of information on the internet as to how to do it. Thank you for your terrific website. Woody
Thank for your kind words Woody!
We love Stevia too. It will arrive this Friday (3/16).
Since you are coming from Atwater, you can call us at 384-0513 to confirm it has arrived.
We LOVE customer requests! See you soon.
Your information is very valuable for me, this is an incredible website. I am planning to improve my landscape since I have a large site. What trees and plants do you recommend me to use, i am looking for low irrigation and native plants that could be easily be sustain here at Merced CA.
Hi Miguel,
Thanks for your comment. Re: Plant selection. We have a great selection of Califonia Native and Drought Tolerant plants at Merced Gardens. We also have many fruit trees, shade trees and ornamental shrubs. We can make some great recommendations for ‘evergreen’ shrubs and tress that do well in the Valley and flowering perennials that do great in the hot summer weather here. Please feel free to stop by and browse. Our staff is very knowledgeable and would be happy to walk you around and show you many options. We are open 9-5 daily.

All our employees are trained to assist you in your selection while insuring the site location gets the proper sunlight and water to fit the plants needs. Stop by anyday and we will be happy to show you our suggestions…we are open from 9:00am to 6:00pm daily!
Hi! My husband would like a 4-n-1 nectarine or nectarine/peach tree. Do you have any suggestions for what might be suitable for Oakdale? And, is this something I am able to find through you? Thank you so much for your help and advice. Jessica
For Oakdale, most of the multi-budded fruit should do just fine. We are currently wrapping up our bareroot fruit tree season (as are most of the independent nurseries). WE did carry the five in one fruit salad tree by Dave Wilson. Multi-budded trees tend to get expensive as a container grown tree, which is why we do bareroot. However, we can still acquire some of the multi-budded trees such as 3n1 apple, 3n1 peach, and 3n1 peach/nectarine. Prices would be about $62.
Please call us directly if you are interested in purchasing one through us. We cannot answer more detailed availability or pricing questions on the website.
